do not purchase! we have had this model for 4 years and are out of warranty and the ice maker has died. for the last 4 years we have struggled with the ice maker freezing and jamming up weekly. google samsung ice maker issues and you will see recalls (which my model is not part of), problem after problem, law suits etc. spend your money elsewhere.

run away, run away, do not buy this fridge!!! the ice maker freezes up in 2 seconds so you constantly have to keep a bag of ice in the freezer. the freezer slides are always jamming. its a weird utilization of space. more than anything the fridge service sucks and when you call they want to send a tech out for $200 and then the ice maker will freeze up again after they leave. do not buy!!!

within 2 years of purchase, ice maker kept freezing up and would not make ice. the defrost, get this, beeps the whole time it is defrosting!!!! we had to defrost every 2 weeks. husband tried a fix he found on internet using caulking, but it did not work. flooded kitchen with water. now we do not have ice maker or cold water on our expensive appliance. ice trays take up allot of space in freezer. 1 - ice maker is not properly designed. 2 - middle drawer temperature buttons quit working.

we've had our refrigerator for just 4 years. the first year, it made a very loud humming noise. samsung performed warranty repairs and it seemed to help resolve the issue. however, the sound would come back intermittently over the next few years. the ice maker failed after 3 years - this is a major issue with this fridge with countless owners complaining about it. now there is a leak in the system causing it to completely stop cooling. i've had it repaired, but this may only be a temporary fix. i have an old frigidaire in my garage that has lasted over 20 years with no issues. i guess they don't make them the way they used to.

Ice maker defective, compressor rattling loud

this frig was purchased in 2014. the ice maker kept freezing up on us when it was about 2 years old. we defrosted the ice maker once a week because of this problem but it kept getting worse. after 6 months of doing this, we decided it wasn't worth our time anymore. the frig is now 6 years old and the frig makes a 5 second loud rattling noise each time the compressor runs which is about every 15 minutes or so. it's very loud!

this fridge does not work! ice maker causes leaks in the fridge, water pools under the vegetables drawers, and fridge generally doesn't stay cold. we've had many service visits over the years, had to replace the fan just recently because of a grinding noise, and it still isn't staying cold in the fridge. food is spoiling extremely quickly, mold forms, and this fridge is just a ton of work. the design itself is nice although cleaning the vegetable drawers is complicated by needing to push down on plastic tabs -- definitely not easy and required watching a couple of different youtube videos. altogether, this fridge is not good and has been very expensive to maintain, and it's not even functioning as it should!

Would give this appliance 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact that it's so noisy when making ice. It's a loud bang and the motor runs noisily. This is the second appliance I've had with the same inherent fault of the icebox freezing over. The engineer has been out 7 times now and fitted a service kit but the fault is still there. Have now returned it to Samsung and received a refund. Very frustrating for a £2k appliance.

We purchased the matching set of appliances in June 2015 for our new house. About 13 months after moving in, the ice maker stopped making ice. Of course, it was an out of pocket fix because it was no longer under warranty ($200). Now, here we are less than 4 years later, and the refrigerator is making a very loud humming noise. When I google the problem, it's obvious that other models of Samsung refrigerators have the same issue. We have already replaced our dishwasher and the digital display on our range is partially out also. I do not recommend Samsung appliances.

Great, BUT...

We are big Samsung believers and normally purchase all TV's, phones and appliances favoring the brand. We purchased this counter depth refrigerator from Lowe's and luckily added the extended warranty. In less that six months our unit stopped making ice and we called for warranty support. It was performed promptly and our ice maker worked again. Within 3-6 months we had the same issue and this time called Lowe's warranty. The technician came out and diagnosed the issue and stating that this was a common problem with this refrigerator and Samsung was supplying a "kit" to fix the problem. After the kit came and was installed the ice maker was fine. Another 3-6 months later the issue came back and this time the tech told us that we would probably get a replacement since everything had been done to fix this problem. He fixed it again and said if the problem persisted Samsung would replace. 3-6 months later the issue came up again and the and called Samsung and we were told it was approved for a replacement. When we called later to arrange this Samsung told us even though it was in their system to give us a replacement, our warranty has expired so they were not going to give us the replacement unit. After going up several levels of Samsung employees we were told the best best was to contact Lowe's. We went to Lowe's and they immediately made the arrangements to replace our unit. We really like the refrigerator but are disappointed in the way Samsung handled this issue. We are so happy that we purchased an extended warranty and Lowe's is doing the right thing, but not happy the way Samsung has stood behind their product.

After this experience I will not be buying a samsung appliance again. I have had this refrigerator for just 4 years and have spent about $1000 fixing it. The ice maker has broken TWICE and we have also had an issue the defroster causing the cooling not to work. For such an expensive item I expected much more than this garbage. The product is pretty but if it repeatedly breaks in such a short time whats the point. Im expecting the ice machine will break again but I refuse to put more money into this and will be replacing it.

This is a great refrigerator, however the ice maker "ice master" is the worst on the market. The ice maker went out after 13 months. Of course the warranty for general repairs is only for 12 months. Refridgerator Lemon

I purchased this refrigerator in April 2018, it leaks from the ice dispenser both inside the fridge and outside at the dispenser. I have to keep paper towels at the dispenser to keep the water from leaking down the front of fridge. Because it leaks inside the fridge the ice bucket freezes up and cannot be removed. I've had service on it and its worst now than before. It's alway making popping noises. Samsung makes it so difficult to request service on line. constant problem with ice maker which Samsung will not do anything about.

We have had problems with the ice maker on this refrigerator since it was six months old. We had technicians out while still under warranty, including all parts of ice maker being replaced twice. It ices up, pours water out, and then the fan will get stuck making a noise. I would never recommend or purchase another Samsung product as Samsung knows this is an issue and will not resolve.

poor ice maker

We really liked the design of this refrigerator, and it fit our kitchen like a glove. But the ice maker in the refrigerator is amazingly sub-par. When it works at all, the ice maker produces a limited amount of ice that is softer than our previous refrigerator. And, on a regular basis, it ices up and stops making ice altogether. I have to defrost the ice maker with a hair dryer and scraper as often as every 3-5 days to keep it working. We had the ice maker unit replaced under warranty. Now that the refrigerator is out of warranty (it's now 3+ years old), we have had 3 service calls (and counting) in which the technician has followed Samsung's recommended steps to mitigate this known problem. The problem persists, and we were just quoted a significant (out of pocket to me) cost for replacement parts to be installed on a 4th service call. If ice is important to you, I would not recommend this refrigerator.

OMG I am so over this fridge- It has been repaired 3 times and making awful fan noises again. The first time we had it repaired was right after we had it installed. I hate this fridge.

Expensive refrigerator. Had to replace fan in about 13 months. Soon after warranty expired. Now same problem again with ice forming near vents inside. Have to call service. Never buy a Samsung. And getting service is pretty difficult as well. Zero value for a lot of dollars. More pain than anything else

Worst product ever.....Samsung needs to refund us our money so we can get a quality product

Basically...our refrigerator is only 8.5 months old. We have had numerous issues with the ice maker freezing up even from just 1.5 months of age. Samsung, when we originally called, had nothing to offer to help us. Today, it is just over 8 months old, the entire ice tray was frozen in place and there was zero ice in the tray. They offer no help for repair of this issue. If you look up online, the repair has been described as very pricey.....from replacing water lines and reinsulating the entire appliance and then replacing a circuit board. The repair would cost half the cost of the orig price. It was somewhat bizarre that Bruce R at the bestbuy in Avon Ohio told us we edged the extended warranty on the item because of some excuse about power outages in our area......we have had zero of those.....would have been better had the guy just told us we were purchasing a piece of garbage instead......and maybe we could have bought a different unit that would have worked...... Samsung.....how do you refund me my money for something that you won't service and we can ant find anyone to touch it since it is such an issue.

After 13 months our water dispenser and ice maker both quit working. We entertain and need a fridge that can produce ice. With a 12 month warranty we are left paying again and again, waiting for someone to be able to figure out what's wrong. At this time we've paid hundreds for repairs and still have no ice. DO NOT plan on this unit working for years. It is poorly made and has major design flaws.

Terrible ice maker, awesome otherwise

The ice maker in this refrigerator is it's downfall. Otherwise this refrigerator is awesome. Its sleek, loaded with features/functionality, and looks great. But for such a high-end refrigerator that only has 1 small ice maker, you would expect it to be more robust/reliable and with less issues. Not long after our 1 year warranty ended, the ice maker suddenly started icing up. There are no issues with the gaskets/seals. I have scoured the internet for solutions, and it seems many other customers have this same issue. We now have to pull the tray and thaw it out completely every couple months. Between thaws, ice production slows gradually until it completely stops. This refrigerator would be 5 stars all the way without the ice maker issues. Due to ice maker issues, it is overall below average, and NOT recommended.

Worst purchase we've made in years. We've had continuous problems with the ice maker and reading repair blogs this is a well documented issue with the product. When we've called for repair, we get ridiculous trouble-shooting tips and no resolve. Ice maker problems started within 6 months. We finally gave up and bought an external ice maker. Ice maker/water dispenser leaks even when it works, and then ice maker freezes over after a couple of weeks. In our 2.5 years of ownership, we've had to replace 3 door shelves and one interior shelf. The plastic breaks easily and is brittle.

Purchased in November of 2014 and after one year the ice maker failed. After several out-of-warranty service calls and replacement of the ice maker motor/fan unit TWICE at our expense, the ice maker is failing again and the refrigerator fan motor has also failed. My understanding is that Samsung has redesigned the ice maker components and housing, so there is hope for those of you who have recently bought this unit. We are very disappointed to have to be shopping for a new refrigerator after 2.75 years.
